S&BT requires all students to submit a personal Criminal Background Check (CBC) prior to taking the class! You can get a copy of your CBC from the Sheriff's Department in the county in which you reside. SLED will conduct it's own and separate background check when you submit your application packet.

The South Carolina CWP Partial Course is required prior to submitting your application for a Concealed Weapons Permit in the State of South Carolina.

The State of South Carolina does not require current or retired Military and Law Enforcement officers from taking the Basic Pistol/Safety Portion of the course. Please visit the SC SLED website for all updates!

Students are also required to pass a written test and a Handgun Qualification Course which is mandated by the State.
