NRA BASICS OF PISTOL SHOOTING

$155.00, One-day class, 8 hours

S&BT requires all students to submit a copy of their Personal Criminal Background Check (CBC) or a copy of their Concealed Weapons Permit prior to taking the class! You can get a copy of your CBC from the Sheriff's Department in the county in which you reside. 

The goal of the NRA, Basics of Pistol Shooting Course is to teach the Basic Knowledge, Skills and Attitude Necessary for Owning and Using a Pistol Safely.

The course is presented by a NRA Certified Instructor.


The Basics of Pistol Shooting Course is specifically designed for the person with little to no firearms experience and presented in a friendly, non-intimidating environment. 

Class size is purposely limited so the student receives more one-on-one training, this also helps promote safety and a positive range experience for the first time shooter.

NRA, Basics of Pistol Shooting Course (8 hours) consisting of a mixture of classroom and range time. The course consists of the following:

  • Firearms Safety! The 3-Rules for Safe Gun Handling.

  • Firearm Sports

  • Basic Firearm Laws

  • Common Handgun Actions

  • Safe Revolver/Pistol Handling

  • Malfunction Types and Clearing malfunctions

  • Understanding Ammunition

  • Effective Defensive Shooting Position

  • Proper Ways to Carry and Handle a Handgun

  • Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting

  • Handgun Cleaning and Maintenance

Each student will receive the NRA Gun Safety Rules Card, NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Guide, NRA Marksman Qualification Booklet.
